Congrats to Adrianna!
Here is the beginning of: Adrianna's original story,
"Apparently, I'm in Love".
Chapter 1
Adrianna's POV
“Mmmm-mmmm-mmmm, na-na-naaaa.”
“Hello? Anyone home?” Aurora said, tapping my head.
“Huh?” I said, confused.
“Wow. You weren’t even listening, were you, Adrianna?” she said, acting really mad which doesn’t work out for her well.
“No.” I replied, pouting. We started cracking up laughing.
“Were you daydreaming about Alex-”
“WHAT? Are you nuts?!” I yelled as Alex walked by, talking to his friends.
Alex was the most adorable kid in school. I started liking him way back in second grade, when he was in my class for the first time.
“Ahhhh.” I sighed, happily thinking about him. “He’s so cute!”
“Yuck. Gross,” Aurora said.
“Seriously?” I said, annoyed. “He’s a football player and he has the most adorable smile-”
“Really? Are you serious?” she said. “We are just starting eighth grade. Don’t start going off about athletes and stuff.”
“Really? Are YOU serious? What do you not see in him?”
“Look over there for yourself.” she replied, clearly getting a kick out of my reaction. “Off to homeroom!”
I turned around, and he was messing around with his friends. They were pushing and shoving each other around like the idiots they are. What? I never said he was the smartest kid in town. Anyway, so he pushed this kid, Derek, into the wall, and Derek shoved him back. But, of course, I just happened to be walking past him at the time. So Alex went flying, and tripped over some other kid, and landed, guess where? Flat on top of me. “What the- oh, hey Adrianna.” Alex said, still on top of me.
“Hi there Alex!” I replied sarcastically.
“Oh. Right. Sorry ‘bout that,” he started as he helped me up.“Derek-”
“Yeah. I know. I saw.”
“Uh… Right. Hey, what homeroom are you in?” he asked me.
“Y-422.” I said, almost saying “yours”. That would have made me seem like a stalker.
“Oh. Me too!” he replied, too enthusiastically to be sincere.
Then Derek walked over, giving me a look like I was the most revolting thing he had ever seen in his life. He whispered something in Alex’s ear and he said, “Yeah, I guess so.”
Alex looked at me and said, “Bye Adrianna, see you in a minute,” and started walking somewhere that I guessed was homeroom, so I stayed 3 yards away and followed them.
When we got there, I saw my friend Athena sitting with nobody that I knew. I waved and smiled, and then walked in. I saw my best friend, Addison, sitting on the total opposite side of the room, but after I sat down next to Athena.
“Darn it!” I mumbled, a lot louder than needed.
“What?” Athena asked. “Addison’s sitting right over there!”
I said pointing to the other side of the room. “If only you two knew what each other looked like.”
“Hello, class!” My homeroom teacher bellowed. “My name is Mr. Cartigan.”
We got paper after paper and lecture after lecture until second period.
“Hello, new eighth graders!” my new English teacher said. “My name is Mrs. Rose, and I will be your English teacher!”
She looked way too cheery. She was a small, plump woman who had red hair and glassy green eyes. Mrs. Rose read off our alphabetically assigned seats and, YES! Alex sits near me!
Well, not next to me, but still near me! He sits diagonally to the left of me. Within talking distance!
I’m going to take advantage of this moment! I thought. I turned like I was pointing at something, and threw my pencil so that Alex could grab it off the floor.
“Hey, Alex?” I said. “One sec.” he said to the girl he was talking to. “Yeah Adrianna?” he said, seeming too deeply concerned.
“Can you grab that for me?” I asked.
“Oh. Yeah. Sure.” he replied, handing me my pencil and turning back around to that girl again. “Oooooooooooooo!” I heard Shayla say behind me. “I detected some disappointment!” she squealed.
“Shut up, Shayla!” I said, almost protectively, thinking Alex was turning back around.
“Fine.” she said, giggling away. Oh, Alex, I thought. I wish you liked me as much as I like you. But then I met Zach.
Alex
“Haha. Very funny, Derek.” I said.
“What? You do.” he replied.
“Shut up!”
“Why? I was just going to say that you liked-”
“Shut up. Change the subject. She’s right there!” I mumbled.
“So how was your game last night?” he asked, clearly amused.
